I have seen a number of posts on the forums about people who are having trouble with DNS Resolution on SBS 2011 Essentials.
Sean Daniel posted an excellent explanation of the how’s and whys of Essentials and DNS, and why the Server has a Dynamic IP… <shudder>
Anyway, knowing why something does something, and not being happy with it doing it, are two separate things.
So, if you want to force your DNS Forwarders to be something other than your Default Gateway, or, to use something else instead, you can build a simple scheduled task to do this.

I am testing a PowerShell script to delete files based on age, as Acronis ‘Backup Location CleanUp’ seems hopeless at this task on this particular network – seems to work ok on others.
I found a neat little script here, http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Delete-files-older-than-x
It was working, but failing to delete one file in particular giving me the error that the file was in use. Read more of this post

I recently added my Laptop to my Essentials server, so it would be backed up.
At the time i had 2 partitions a C and a D partition. Whilst reconfiguring my laptop to dual boot Windows 2008 R2 I decided, following a conversation with Tim Barrett, to boot the Windows 2008 install from a VHD, rather than a partition. So i decided to remove that D partition.
After doing this, the Backups kept failing.

A lot of people deploying SBS 2011 Essentials seem to have developed a special affection for the Launchpad app. That is to say they seek to disable it at the earliest opportunity.
