Deploy Google Chrome Extensions using GPO

ChromeI spent quite a lot of time on this mainly because the instructions dotted around are out of date or misleading, or missing crucial information.

I did write earlier that you could also do this by adding in the relevant Policy registry keys, however this does not seem to work.

Quick Fix : WSUS Client Targeting not working

Just a quick post, I had recently rebuilt a WSUS Server at a client site and, as is normal procedure for me, totally changed how this was setup compared to the previous one.

In the previous server we had groups for each OS, which was fine when we had a mixture of them, but now all clients are on the same OS and having all 200+ machines in a single group made little sense to me.

So I decided to split them up based on machine age (using a WMI filter I could select the different model of PC) So, each model (or group of models) got their own GPO and their own WSUS Group which was great, except client side targeting was not working.

How to make a WMI Filter?

WMI Query SignWMI Filters are nothing new, but, i believe are not used as widely as perhaps they could be, leading to complex OU structures in your domain just to get GPOs targeted to the right devices. A structured OU policy is fine of course, encouraged even, but there may be circumstances where targeting a GPO is not easy within a given structure, and you don’t want a GPO to apply to other devices that may share an OU.
